Our Sweet Story…
Let me start from the beginning. Our family owns two sugar cane mills in south Louisiana (hence the name!) I grew up with cane fields in our back yard, rode four-wheelers, and was always surrounded by animals from as long as I can remember. My mom bred everything! From champion shar-pei's, chow-chows, macaws, amazon parrots, miniature horses and even guppy fish! Our house was always filled with so many different animals! Needless to say, it was in my blood!
Hi! My name is Kristin Zatta and we live in Central, Louisiana just outside of Baton Rouge. I'm married to Francisco and we are blessed to have three combined children together: Rachel, Jace and Jacki. We are completely passionate about our faith, our family and all of our dogs!

When I started a family of my own, I owned a small non-shedding Shitzu-Maltese named Princess Peaches aka “PP”. But as the kids grew older, I knew they needed a dog of their own. On a whim I got Max, a HUGE beautiful black lab. He was such a smart and loving dog! Except there was one problem. BLACK HAIR EVERYWHERE! It became so hard to keep up a household with two small children while constantly having dog hair everywhere. As our dogs began to age, and with even more love in our hearts, I went on a search for a non-shedding dog that would fit our family...
Sugar Bear the Cajun Bernedoodle was exactly what we needed! She was the life of the party and turned heads everywhere we went. As our other two dogs aged and eventually passed away, we knew it was time to fill our hearts again with another pup. So, I started researching Bernedoodles again and doodles in general and that's when I stumbled upon... the Australian Labradoodle!
With the support of my loving husband and the knowledge, experience and help from my mom, we decided to create Sugar Cane Doodles and help families and individuals with special needs find their perfect companion or therapy dog.
We are exploring option and may offer Bernedoodles or Australian Bernedoodles (a beautiful cross between Bernedoodles and Australian Labradoodles) in the future!
